Specialised Rug Photography
Photographing rugs requires specialised skills and equipment to ensure consistent colours and even lighting across the entire surface. I'm very good at this, with my own unique set-up that gets accurate, true-to-life colours and tones on every rug. I photograph everything from high-quality Afghan and Pakistani rugs to kilims. Images are carefully composed to give customers a clear top-down, bird's-eye view, showing the weave, pattern, pile, corners and tassels in detail. A rug's nap — the direction the pile lies — changes how it reflects or absorbs light, so depending on where the light's coming from, one area can look really bright and another quite dark in a photo, even though it looks even to the eye in real life; silk and Afghan lanolin wool rugs show this the most. That's why every rug is shot from both directions, to account for the nap and keep the colours accurate. All rug photographs are fully edited, colour-corrected, and web-ready for immediate use in online sales.

Pack-Shot Photography
One set-up covers every item shot the same way, then it's a flat rate per item — ideal for e-commerce and catalogue work.
Rug Photography
Set-up plus a per-rug rate, covering top-down, end, corner and detail shots for handmade and Persian rugs.
Standard — white balance and exposure adjustments, automatic rug straightening.
Comprehensive — adjusts localised exposure areas, since the nap can make a rug look darker or lighter than it appears naturally; straightens and tidies edges manually, as a rug's weave can be more distorted and skewed than it was actually cut; plus fixes any imperfections.
Product Photography
Larger or more complex product photography, priced by day rate, location and number of items.
Rug photography needs a suitable space at least 8 x 5m with a 3m clear white ceiling, or a venue hire if you don't have this — each rug is shot from 5 angles (top-down, end — twice if silk — corner and details).
